Part 3
SPEAKING THE WORD OF GOD OVER YOUR FAMILY
TEXT: PSALM 127-128
It’s not possible to be spiritually mature while remaining emotionally immature. We must be both spiritually and emotionally healthy for our families.
Battles that we refuse to confront our children will be force to overcome.
Proverbs 18
20 Sharing words of wisdom is satisfying to your inner being. It encourages you to know
that you’ve changed someone else’s life.
21 Your words are so powerful that they will kill or give life,
and the talkative person will reap the consequences.
22 When a man finds a wife, he has found a treasure!
For she is the gift of God to bring him joy and pleasure.
But the one who divorces a good woman
loses what is good from his house.
To choose an adulteress is both stupid and ungodly. -
Proverbs 13:22
Aaronic blessing found in Numbers 6:22-27 to speak over your children:
The Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them: “‘“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”’ “So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.”
Bible blessings to pray over your children:
Philippians 1:9-11 “And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.”
2 Thessalonians 3:16 “May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way.”
Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Philippians 4:7 “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Joshua 1:9 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Proverbs 13:22
- The servant of God who is not anxious about riches, takes the best method of providing for his children. - Matthew Henry
- A good man leaves an inheritance of prayers, a godly life, a good name, a wonderful example, and many cherished memories, and in some cases, houses, lands, and wealth for his children. In contrast, the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
- Stop chasing success for your children. Let the Lord order them steps. Raise them to be righteous and their steps will be ordered by the Lord.
- God will open doors no man can close and close doors no man can open.
- Guard your home. Be careful you and what you let in.
- The choice of arrows as a metaphor is appropriate to the analogy of multiple children, but it also underscores the thought that the growth of the next generation is vital to the future well-being of both city and society.
- An olive tree had several uses for its wood, leaves and oil, but it also symbolized well-being and splendor.
- An olive branch will continue to produce shoots even after cut down.
